Hydrosols, also known as floral waters, distillates, or plant waters, are produced during the steam distillation of plant materials. They contain the aromatic water-soluble components of the plant in a gentle concentration. During the distillation process, steam passes through the plant material and carries the aromatic compounds through a condenser where the essential oil and aromatic water separate. The essential oil collects separately, while the remaining fragrant water is known as hydrosol or floral water.
